Eric's Project - Part 34

(2/24/01):  Finally got some time to install the CDI and Pertronix!!!!!  I already had the CDI mounted on the firewall, it just was not plugged in.  The wiring was SIMPLE, and after it was wired up all I had to do was open up the plug gaps.

Here's what I started out with.  A standard Pertronix electronic ignition kit, and one of my modified rotors  As I said earlier, the CDI was already mounted on the firewall, so I just needed to hook it up!

The next thing to do was install the Electronic ignition module, and the collar.  Probly the hardest think was to get the grommet through!  (BTW, the collar is a little stiff to get on!)  I air gapped it at .040" and popped on the modified rotor

The finished product.  After this, I reinstalled the rest of my baja rear end (the piece that holds the plate), and ran the wiring through black conduit, and opened up the plug gaps to .040"

That's it!  Really easy mod!  What I've noticed so far: Its really easy to start when cold, and the power is much smoother! You will notice I did mount the CDI outside...  This is because it does make a rather high pitched whine (cant hear it over the exhaust and stereo) - But don't worry, the particular place where I put it doesn't see that much water, and Plus I bought the slightly more water resistant 'baja' version.
