(2/13/01): Had another (small) incident...
This one didn't involve a guardrail like the last one though. This one had
to do with rust, and my gas tank! I was driving home from school, and the
car would just start to loose power. It got so bad, I could only get up to
about 10 mph! If I let it sit for about a minute, and then 'try again', it
would work fine until I got up to speed, then it would start to die
again... Turns out my fuel filter (under my gas tank; where they all NEED
to be), was clogged to the brim with rust (its less than 2 years old too!)
Looks like it may be time to seal the gas tank up ($60 for the kit at www.aircooled.net)
Looks like I may have another tech article coming up eventually! (when I get the
$$$). Here's the pics:
Here's what the filter looked like... Its *supposed* to be clear!
I cut open the fuel filter, and took a magnet to all the 'junk' to see if it
was rust... it was.
I
let the line drain just a bit, and sure enough there was more in it! This
is my new 'rust spot' in my driveway :-)
When
I get the time, I'll get it fixed...
