(3/12/01): Now that the floorpans were clean, I
painted them with por-15 silver. This is the paint that goes right over
the rust! On my car, it took about 6 hours to dry to the touch. Once
its given 24 hours to dry, its as hard as a ROCK! I tried to scratch it,
and I couldn't!!!!! Anyway, here is what the pan looked like when painted
with por-15 silver
Once the painting was done, I let it dry overnight. BTW, that little
square 'patch' is just what it looks like. Its a piece of fiberglass that
came with the kit, that you can cut to size, and fill small holes. I had a
small hole, and a little thin area right there, so I decided to use a small
square of the fiberglass. Once its impregnated with the por-15 and has
dried it is VERY strong! (However it is important that your floorpan has
structural integrity before you even consider restoring it... If it isn't
strong enough to hold you, it probably needs to be cut out, and a new one welded
in.) Stay tuned for part 37, where I topcoat the silver!
