(8/25/00): Not too many pics today... Installed my disc brakes; They look GREAT!
How's that for bright? I painted the hub orange (more like neon orange), and put a light coat of clear on the contact path (the rotor) itself; The reason: The brake pads do not come in full contact with the rotor (there is about a 1/2" inch space towards the middle, and about a 1/4" space towards the outside). So If I didn't coat it, it would rust, and look gross. BUT its WAY too hard to measure out where to mask, and then paint the 'untouched' areas with clear; My solution (well actually, not my solution: It was recommended by several people): Paint the WHOLE thing, and let the brakes wear off the rest. You can see my Heavy Duty 7/8" sway bar, in the background. You can also see my stainless steel braided brake line! I *WAS* going to paint the caliper orange as well, but decided it would be a little much. Lots of the orange on the hub will be covered up by my rims, and the rest makes a really neat accent. All this 'hardware' looks great under my black empi 8 spokes. (BTW, in case your wondering why I didn't paint the black dust cap... Its because it is covered by the rim, so it wont be seen)
Just another of the same pic. Mmmmmm pretty :-)
