Eric's Summer Project - Part 9

(8/24/00):  Started final assembly today!! Woohoo!

Here is one of the spindles FINALLY back on the car (the other one IS on too)...  You can see the "upgraded" 7/8" (compared to original 3/4") Sway bar.  You can also see I put on the adapter plate for the disc brake conversion kit.  I didn't get time to install the left, and right tie rods, so I'll do that tomorrow.

Here is one of the control arms, you can see the new urethane in place. (the liquidy stuff, is Teflon grease, to keep it from squeaking).

Here's part of the sway-bar...  You can again see more urethane bushings.

This is the best picture I could get of the steering box (I was on my back, on the creeper).  You can see the new boot, for the universal joint, on the end of the steering shaft (which are real buggers to get on, BTW).

Again, this is "the best" picture I could get of the idler arm... Its temporarily installed, until the new bushing gets in.

This is the steering shaft with universals, and the boots installed over them... (located in the trunk, under the gas tank)

Here's the interior, in its "almost-done" stage...  The steering column, and column tube, are in final position.  The steering wheel, is just on there loose (so I can line it up).  Notice all the wires hanging down from under the dash (needed more room up there, will have to stuff them back up again).  Also notice NO WINDOW CRANKS :-)  That's right, POWER windows (installed those a month ago).

Here is my "horn-brush" installed...  as you can see, it got quite close to the boot -- but it still works!

That's all for now...  I hope to install the disc brakes, and a few other odds and ends, in the next segment.  So stay tuned for PART 10!
