This page has been UPDATED with new info, on 8/23/00. I have removed all the pages pertaining to the "new" steering box that I had obtained... I inspected it more carefully, and found out the machining on it was terrible. I found that on the roller gear, there was over 3 thou. worth of play (it was wavy) on 2 surfaces. My original unit just had ONE flat spot of 3 thou. I couldn't inspect the worm gear very easily, but I am assuming its just as bad. My advice is to STAY AWAY from WAT brand, NEW steering boxes, as they are trash. You are MUCH better off, buying a rebuilt unit (or several), and making one good one out of it. Needless to say, this one is going back, and I AM using my original parts.
