Eric's Project - Part 39

(3/15/01):  The final carpeting step!  Took a little time, but I got the rear seat bottom out, and the rear seat back out.  I then had to remove the upper 2 mounts that hold my engine cage (baja bumper) on, and support it.

Here's what it looked like once I got pretty much done ripping all the layers of carpeting off, and scraping some of the glued padding off.  You will notice I left the original tarboard on the package tray.

Here's the old padding.  There was 2 layers of carpeting and 2 layers of padding...  Everything together must have weighed 40 pounds!

Once I got the rear wheelwells padded, I went ahead and carpeted them.  Then I glued in the package tray padding.  That lower piece of padding is a piece I fabbed up (was laying around in the garage).

All that hard work, and only 3 inches of it show!  Oh well... It looks great, and despite weighing less than the old stuff, it does its job just as well! (still relatively quiet inside too!)

Just a few more pics of the interior:

That's it for now!
