Eric's Summer Project - Part 18

(9/16/00):  Got some time today...  I was able to get a BUNCH done!!!  I got the garage cleaned up a bit (took a full truckload of 'stuff' to the hangar for more room; and while I was there, I picked up the engine stand).  Got the engine pulled, and mounted to the engine stand, AND got it disassembled (not completely; just as far as I needed it).  Not too bad for a days work!

Got the engine pulled (took about 20 min. BTW), and got it mounted up to the engine stand.  Its ready to become a "performance 1600!!"

Here's the backside

This is what the rear-end of my car looks like, without an engine, Baja bumper, and without some Baja fiberglass (gets in the way, so I took it off).

Here's what it looked like a couple hours later!  I took off, ALL the 'sheetmetal parts' (fan shroud, metal trim etc.)  I also took off the alternator/fan, and the rockers/heads, and removed the oil pump, drained the oil, took off the fan belt pulley, all the gas lines, took out the distributor/wires, etcetera, etcetera.  Later I cleaned the engine up a bit, and cleaned some of the carbon off of the pistons (not shown in pics).

Side View

Here are SOME of the parts I took off...  Missing from the pic, are all the bolts/fasteners, and the heads.

Tomorrow I hope to get the High Performance heads and ratio rockers fitted; Once everything is fitted, I can set up proper rocker geometry, and measure what size I need to have my new ChroMoly pushrods cut to (having www.aircooled.net do this for me).  Stay tuned for PART 19!
