(12/24/2003) - My battery has been dead for the past several days. After testing the system out, I found that the alternator itself was fine, but the voltage regulator was bad. I pulled it apart and tried to tweak it a bit, but I wasn't able to fix it.
It was time to add a bit more juice to be able to support all my electrical accessories (power windows, power locks, gauges, stereo, alarm, lights, etc) anyway, so I went ahead and bought this 95 amp alternator (internally regulated) from so. cal. Then I also added the pulley with the fan integrated on the backside to help keep it cool:
Installation
was pretty simple. Its mostly a "one wire hookup" straight to
the battery. Then I was able to get rid of the voltage regulator under my
back seat. This fixed my problem, and now allows me a little more
'overhead' for future electronics.
